Company: Coldwell Banker Mid-America Group, Realtors

Duration: April 15, 2007 - October 15, 2007

Goal: With the increasing use of text messaging, Coldwell Banker Mid-America Group, Realtors (CBMAG) wanted to interact with prospective home buyers and sellers with a new-age, technical medium. An objective was made to create a SMS interaction platform to provide individuals with any and all information needed regarding prospective properties and realtor information.

Solution: After examining all aspects of the real estate industry, CBMAG’s core business, and Sedona Technologies’ multiple delivery platforms, a solution was discovered. Houses are tagged with a unique keyword posted on ‘for sale’ signs as sign riders. The unique keyword (CB302) is associated with the given property – realtors and office administrators make sure that all keywords are associated with the correct backend information.

As a prospective homebuyer or seller drives by a property, they have the ability to text in a unique property keyword and receive the following message:

123 Main St. 2BR, 2BA, 1440 sq ft. $280,000.00 Reply ‘Contact” to be contacted by Jane Smith – (555) 555-5555

The message recipient now has all relevant information to the specific property they need in order to take additional steps. If the recipeient replies with the word ‘contact’ – an email and text message will be sent to Jane Smith (realtor) letting her know that mobile number (555) 551-5555 has inquired about her listed property at 123 Main St. The original message recipient will then get a notice that Jane Smith will be contacting them soon.

Results: After just one month of service, this campaign has seen extremely high activivty. The campaign began with CBMAG placing teaser ads in the local newspaper, this created a large buzz in the community about a great new real estate tool. There is an average of 8 hits per day on unique housing identifiers, with much higher numbers seen over the weekends.

The following are personal testimonials from individuals involved in this case study:

“We knew we wanted to enter the mobile world, but with our already developed backend, we didn’t want to disrupt our day-to-day business. Sedona Technologies was able to integrate their mobile solution into our system. Business went on as usual, and we are seeing great results and gaining listings everyday.”

-Kent Allison, VP of Information Technology, CBMAG

“Traditional marketing vehicles are just that, traditional. We are looking for an edge on the competition, a marketing strategy encompassing print, web, and mobile. Sedona Technologies was the answer to our mobile marketing vehicle – providing us with the edge we needed.”
