Duration: December 10th - Present
Goal: The Iowa Lottery sees great value in
communicating with their customers. With
an already established and successful email campaign, The Iowa Lottery was
looking to take their one-to-one interactions to the next level. The Iowa Lottery set objectives to reach
their customers via text messages with winning numbers, jackpot alerts, and
periodic announcements about new games, promotions, and special events.
An extremely important
piece to this campaign, though, was ensuring all participants were of legally
age and eligible to play the lottery games – thus, Sedona Technologies created
an interactive age registration process.
After signing up for one of the many lottery subscription groups – users
must reply with their age via text message to check their eligibility to
participate.
Solution: As stated,
the first piece to this equation was the creation of the Sedona Technologies
Interactive Age Registration. This
process will be explained below:
The Iowa Lottery has
created the following databases:
NUMBERS: sends
updates twice a week on the winning numbers for Powerball and Hot Lotto
ALERT: sends
updates when the Powerball jackpot is $100 million or more
PROMO: Sends periodic announcements
about new games, promotions and special events
IALOT: sends
all text messages originated by the Iowa Lottery
Here is an example of how our messaging system
works while integrating the Interactive Age Registration:
Results:
Subscription signups began
quickly and have not let up. Sedona Technologies has helped the Iowa Lottery communicate with their players using
today’s technologies. In a matter of
seconds, players are now able to get updates sent to the palm of their hand.
Some people may say that
text messaging is only prevalent amongst teenagers – those people are
wrong! This campaign has generated users
with an average age of 39, and a maximum age of 70! The young and the old are connecting - now it
is your turn, sign up today!
